Welcome to Newman Catholic Schools (NCS)!
Our early childhood through twelfth grade programs continue a proud 100+ year tradition of Catholic education in the Wausau area. I invite you to take a closer look at our schools and see why so many families have chosen the gift of Catholic education for their children.
NCS provides an integrated approach to faith and knowledge. We welcome students of all faiths. The family-like environment where staff members are both teachers and role models, help nourish the spiritual and moral lives of students. Inspired by the Gospel, students reach out to serve others in our parish and civic communities.
Students participate in excellent academic programs. National standardized tests (ACT and ITBS) show that NCS students place in the top 10% of students in the nation. Schools provide resources to help all students achieve success, including those with unique learning needs. In addition to a rigorous academic program, students are enriched with study in world languages, fine arts, and athletics. Although our students demonstrate outstanding achievement, our Newman Catholic Schools are not content to rest on these accomplishments alone. NCS engages in a formal process of continuous district improvement through AdvancED, the world’s leader in advancing excellence in education. Our membership with AdvancED through our regional organization, North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA CASI), position Newman Catholic Schools to be the education leader in Central Wisconsin.
NCS district goals, established in 2009, are focused on both Catholic faith and academic development of our students.
1. Enhance students’ development in the Catholic faith and enhance the Catholic environment within each Newman Catholic School and Early Childhood Center.
2. Enhance student learning in 21st Century skills including;
• Learning a foundation of core subjects,
• Developing critical thinking skills including applying knowledge to new situations, analyzing information, comprehending new ideas, communicating, collaborating, solving problems, and making decisions
• Developing proficient technology skills
• Connecting learning to real life and the future
• Assessing and planning for one’s progress.
Newman Catholic Schools, along with its supporting parish pastors, makes every effort to keep tuition affordable for families choosing Catholic education. Financial aid programs are available. We are deeply grateful for the tremendous support of our area Catholic parishes and benefactors. They provide the temporal means necessary to attain our Gospel mission.
Through smaller class sizes, dedicated teaching professionals, challenging curriculum, and an inspired learning environment, NCS helps students shine. I encourage you to explore this site to learn about the many great things happening at Newman Catholic Schools. You are invited to contact us for additional information. May God bless you and your family.
