Introducing NCS SCRIP Program
WHAT IS SCRIP?
SCRIP is a nationally recognized fundraising program which allows non-profit organizations like Newman Catholic Schools to benefit from the generosity of major corporations and local merchants.
Do you spend money on
Groceries ?
Gasoline ?
Clothing ?
Household Needs ?
Vacations ?
If it did not cost you any more, and you were able to accumulate credit toward NCS tuition, would you be willing to participate in a worthy cause?
If you answered yes, then SCRIP is the program for you! SCRIP is a term that means substitute money. Most fundraising groups are now referring to SCRIP programs as "Gift Card" Fundraiser, as many of the gift certificates are no longer paper, but gift cards.
How Does SCRIP Work?
Through the SCRIP program, Newman Catholic Schools buys certificates and gift cards at a discount and in turn sells them at face value. The difference between the selling price (face value) and the purchase price is PROFIT.
The profit is divided 60 / 40, as an incentive for families to use the program.
40% is made available to assist in payment of NCS tuition. Credits are totaled and issued once a year in April
40% as NCS Development Fundraiser to support programs throughout the entire system
20% to cover the expenses of running the program
The 2006-2007 school year ended with over $1.5 MILLION in SCRIP sales, over $39,000 was reimbursed as family tuition credit and $43,743 was profit for NCS Operational Budget.
