Both the Newman Catholic Boys and Girls Track team headed down to La Crosse, WI to compete in the state tournament on Friday, June 5th and Saturday, June 6th. Both teams posted strong Sectional showings at Marathon with the Girls coming in 2nd and the Boys placing 4th.
The following Newman Catholic Track Athletes made the trip down to La Crosse for STATE.
Boys: Brett Passini, Anthony Fisher, Ron Leptien, Kyle Tinjum, Luke Gajewski, Curtis Aderholdt, Jacob Schneider, Jacob Wolf, Matt Johnson, Andrew Wilke, Luke Hruska, and Adam Heis.
Girls: Katie Siewert, Caitlyn Bastable, Sarah Connolly, Daley Rupar, Emily Schuster, Andrea Schuster, Hannah Prososki, Megan Connolly, Brittany McIntyre, Brooke Allen, Natalie Jozik, Elli Boschuetz, Teresa Rock, Brooklyn Kemp, Andrea Michalske, and Taylor Thomas.
The result a Division 3 State Title for the girls team its first in Newman Catholic History and a third place showing for the boy's team. Many individual and team records were broken. What a wonderful way to end the athletic sports season for the 2008-2009 year.
A "Welcome Back Home" celebration took place welcoming home both track teams along with our 2 State Tennis participants at a short gathering on Sunday, June 7th. Thanks for all who attended and supported the coaches and team. The gold ball and it's new banner are proudly displayed in both the trophy case and gymnasium.
