Dan Smet is entering his 5th season as head coach for the Newman Cardinals fastpitch softball team. Dan is a 1996 graduate of UW-Oshkosh. Dan pitched for the Titans during the 1993 season when they placed 2nd in the college world series. Dan was the assistant baseball coach for Berlin high school in 1996, the junior varsity softball coach at Phillips High School during the spring of 1999, the junior varsity baseball coach for Wausau West High School in the spring of 2000 under Jim Havlish, and was the assistant baseball coach at Newman Catholic High School for the years 2001-2004. As a former member of "The Farm", Dan was a player on the 1997 and 1999 world champions and the 2003 and 2004 men’s major ASA national champions where he was voted the most valuable hitter during the 2004 national tournament.
